Sandy Hastings - Business Manager
Ms. Hastings’ primary focus at Hastings Engineering, Inc. is financial management. She is involved with financial planning, financial reporting and analysis, customer relations, facility management and web site maintenance and development. Ms. Hastings’ interests include identifying and evaluating new opportunities for Hastings Engineering, Inc. Ms. Hastings served in many different capacities at Enterprise Rent-A-Car for five years. As the Forecast Manager, she developed a financial forecast model designed to consolidate planning for 17 branches, prepared multi-million dollar annual forecasts and generated monthly financial performance reports. In the capacity of Facilities Manager, Ms. Hastings was responsible for the operation and maintenance of the National Reservation Center that employed more than 500 employees. Her duties included negotiation of contracts, procuring assets, general maintenance and approving all purchases. Responsibilities as the Payroll Manager included management of semi-monthly payroll preparation for 500 exempt and non-exempt employees, designing a commission plan for upper level management, and 401K Plan administration. The Special Projects Accountant position held by Ms. Hastings allowed her to gain valuable experience in cost benefit analysis, credit analysis of potential customers, property tax assessment, authoring and implementing a purchase order policy and generating programming requests to enhance the efficiency of accounting processes. Ms. Hastings’ public accounting experience includes more than three
years with KPMG Peat Marwick in Houston, Texas and St. Louis, Missouri.
Ms. Hastings audited financial institutions, manufacturing companies, government
entities and service providers. Her responsibilities included existence
and accuracy tests on revenue/expenses and assets/liabilities, physical
inventory counts, and preparation of flow charts for various accounting
systems. In a management position, Ms. Hastings was responsible for
planning and managing audit engagements that ranged in size from 400 to
1,000 hours. She supervised the audit team, examined the client’s
internal accounting controls, documented audit procedures and findings,
drafted recommendation letters to management, and generated annual financial
reports. Ms. Hastings also spent one tax season preparing individual
and trust tax returns at KPMG Peat Marwick.
