Archived Environmental News - Summer 20062006 US EPA MACT Enforcement Priorities - August 4, 2006 On July 27, 2006 Becky Ingrum Dolph, the Deputy Regional Council for US EPA Region 7, spoke to attendees at the Environmental Law Conference sponsored by the Missouri Bar and the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Ms. Dolph said that Region 7 has four primary air pollution enforcement priorities at this time. Those priorities are for the enforcement of the MACT regulations for Boat Manufacturing ; Portland Cement Manufacturing; Glass Manufacturing; and all NESHAP source categories that are required have a Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program. Ms. Dolph indicated that US EPA was planning to investigate the compliance status of each facility in the region subject to these rules.
New Federal Requirement for RCRA Hazardous Waste Manifests - July 13, 2006 The new federal requirement regarding RCRA Hazardous Waste manifests will soon take effect. It will be a requirement that facilities use the new Federal Uniform Manifest for RCRA Hazardous Waste. This requirement was enacted on March 4, 2005 and the period from then until September 5, 2006 was labeled a transition period where old manifests or new manifests could be used. Again, after September 5, 2006 only manifests printed by US EPA approved entities may be used for hazardous waste shipments.
